Yea, I’ve been there. That’s how I ended up studying trauma and the nervous system. Suffering was my portal to understanding. First, I had to grasp what was happening inside, and why my body was responding to life in certain ways. My obsession with the nervous system was an act of self-preservation. And as much as I’d love to take away your suffering, the body doesn’t work like that. Our reflexive responses are what’s keeping us sick. 

In my experience, no one can heal your body but you. But that’s good news, too! You have agency over your own healing! We can’t go to new and interesting places with our minds, until we have a healthy and safe place to land inside our bodies. But we don’t know what we don’t know. And that’s exactly the intention of this challenge: to educate people on how to recover healthy, fluid, mind-body systems so we can live joyful, fulfilling lives. This is the work that helped me re-educate my own body, heal my trauma symptoms, and ultimately untether from the hamster wheel of autonomic arousal that was keeping me sick.

So, join me! Let 2023 be the year you finally feel better. We have so much more physiological and psychological freedom than we know! We just need to befriend our bodies so we can influence them.
